Idea for a new ingame systemWell, I've been looking at other games for inspirational ideas that would help extent the luifetime of this game, and I've found something that would work perfectly in LaTale and would give players something to do other than grind, quest, PvP, or sit around doing nothing.
Yes, it's similar to another game that's very famous *cough* but with some changes, it could be a really cool addition to the game.
CHALLENGE SYSTEM
Here's how it works:
Opening the challenge panel
In order to open the challenge panel, press the selected button, and a box will open (like opening any other box in this game- guild, skills, buddy list, etc, etc, etc)
Appearance
When you first open the box, you will see two tabs, but it will automatically open on the first heading. The first one will be a heading showing a summary, that will show the amount of challenges completed out of the amount available, the amount of points gained out of the amount of points that are available to gain, and the last five challenges you have completed.
Under the second heading, you will see a list of challenges ranging from Simple to Extremely Difficult (Simple will be in grey, and Extremely Difficult will be in dark red, the same way quests/monsters work). Also included under this tab will be a search system that can be used to look up a certain difficulty of challenge and/or a specific challenge that you wish to complete. The challenge's name will show up in the color that shows the difficulty of the challenge, and the amount of points given if you complete it will show up beside it. Completed challenges will be in a separate list at the top, and the uncompleted challenges will be in another list below the completed ones.
Functions related to the system
For starters, the challenge list will have its own separate objective tracker that can be minimized while you aren't focusing on them (sort of like how the quest tracker works, expect it's possible to minimize it at any time when you aren't worrying about them and/or you need more room on the screen). In order to start tracking challenges, you just click on them from the challenge box. If you click on them again, they will untrack and come off the list, just like quests.
Once you complete a challenge, a little animation will happen above your head and a congratulatory message will be said in all chat, stating you have completed a certain challenge. For example:
There is a challenge called "Priring Slayer" that is categorized as an easy challenge. The objective is to kill 100 Prirings, and the prize is 10 points. You complete the quest, a little aura appears around you and a little bit of confetti is shot above your head. In all chat, it will say "Begin has completed [EASY] Priring Slayer!"
The type of animation will differ as you complete different difficulties of challenges, with Extremely Difficult being the flashiest out of all of them.
Kinds of challenges
There will be a plethora of challenges that will be available for players, as they range from easy to near impossible. Here are my current ideas for challenges:
-Killing challenges (kill a certain amount of monsters, kill a boss X amount of times, kill X amount of players in PvP, etc, etc, etc)
-Collecting challenges (collect X items from a certain monster, collect a certain rare item, collect a certain amount of ely from monsters alone, etc, etc, etc)
-Questing challenges (Complete scenarios, complete all the quests in a certain city, etc, etc, etc)
-Leveling challenges (pretty straight forward, leveling to X, of course there will be a cap lower than 200 in order to make it fair for other players to obtain these sort of challenge completions... maybe up to level 190, leveling guild to X, leveling pet to X, leveling in PvP to X, crafting to level X)
-Other ingame system related challenges (Get X amount of points in PvP, etc)
-Etc challenges (anything that doesn't fit into the other categories)
Prizes and rewards (PFFT, did I forget to mention there would be prizes?)
Here is my current idea in terms of prizes and rewards for completing challenges:
-Permanent fashion items with effects (eg Monster Hunter ring) that can't be XP puzzled, but can be moved into the Fashion Shop and/or maybe a new challenge item storage system to save room in your inventory.
-Challenge sets (sort of like epic sets, but have multiple versions of the set for lower/higher levels... like the Coliseum sets, for example)
-Rare titles (NOTE: These titles can be achieved by either completing a challenge that immediately gives you that titles, AKA an extremely difficult challenge and recieving a coupon for that title, or by trading in points for a title)
-Rare emotes (see note beside Rare titles, these two are basically the same thing)
-and much more!
Two things about these prizes- you will NOT be able to trade them. The reason for this is because people will be more than willing to complete the challenges just to get the prizes and sell them for a profit, but that means that people won't need to do challenges, but they could just buy them off of other players, which is not the purpose of this system. On top of that, you will only be able to recieve ONE of each prize. That way, people can't sell them to others that haven't earned the prize and/or you accidentally click on the prize you already bought and accidentally buy a second one, therefore wasting points.
Anyways, those are my current ideas for this kind of system- a system that I believe could add a lot more to the game than we currently have. Lower levels will have something to work for other than getting to a high level and doing nothing, and the current high levels will have something that will keep them busy for a very long time, with the promise of cool items that are inaccessable any other way.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, please post something here- just remember that this is only an idea!
Current plausible ideas that could be changed
-Instead of needing every challenge completed in order to get most of the items you want, a few challenges could be missed that are virtually unobtainable for most average players (one good example would be the PvP challenges- which would be impossible for anyone that doesn't practice regularly)
