Suggestions to Improve Grinding Conditions

By now the majority of the La Tale community knows that there is an issue pertaining to double experience grinding time as well as people claiming ownership of areas while not using them.  First off, I want to make it clear that I know I do not make the rules, nor am I an administrator of any kind.  I only want to make a peaceful solution for everyone to resolve our most common conflict between players. Here are my suggestions for a new code of conduct for grinding:

1. If a person is using a specific zone, or part of a map and can easily kill within that area continuously, a newcomer should ask that person if they are using any other area to avoid a ks war with that person.  While nobody is entitled to a zone, it is in the best interest of the people who want to use the map to set a friendly boundary based on agreed terms.

2. Encourage sharing!  If there is someone within the levels of a specific area and you are compatible with that person, consider partying up and have fun.  You would be surprised how much an extra hand would help.  You may lose base experience, but, in most instances, you will kill faster and gain more experience.

3. If someone is sitting on a map not killing anything, give them a chance to get up and show that they are using the area (no more than 10 seconds).  They might be in a trade or in a quick chat.  Ask them if they are using the map at that point in time.  If they are, then refer to suggestion 1.  If they are not or not responding, assume that the map is vacant and play normally.  Afk players are not killing any monsters, therefore not actively using the map.

4. Refrain from luring every monster on a map (i.e. Scrap Valley Exit 2) to a specific point to discourage other players from using the map normally.  This is a selfish act that can cause problems for many players while the person in question sits idle (seriously, most players within the set levels of an area cannot kill a map sized spawn in a clump).

5. Refrain from trying to hold maps for anyone.  As stated by the admin, you cannot claim possession of a map, so there is no point to trying to claim a map for someone else.  This also goes back to afking in a map and saying it is yours.  Try to avoid this situation because you are not only causing problems for people who want to play normally, but you are causing problems for you and your friend for whom you are holding the map.

6. Live and let kill!  This one is simple, just don't go around trying to kill monsters that another player intends to kill.  I know there is not a specific line that is crossed for this area, but have some sense.  Everything is a case-by-case deal, but consider the intentions of other players as well as yourself.  Grinding does not have to be a hostile part of the game.

Again, I would like to make it clear that these are suggestions, not mandates, and I do not have the power to mandate anything, as I am not an admin.  However, if the community decides as a whole that these are the guidelines that it wants to follow, then the community can embrace them as an unofficial code of conduct.  In the same respect, the community can come up with its own ideal code of conduct, whether or not it be congruent with what I have written.  We have the power to be courteous and make our gaming experience better.

I would like to ask all those who are in favor, oppose, or otherwise have comments to write a reply to this post.  If we have everyone reply showing their opinion, we can, as a community, decide how we want these situations to be handled.  I hope that you all will take these guidelines into consideration and help the community form a solution to our double experience plight.
